Where is my chanting data stored?

All data is stored directly on your phone in a secure local database. The app operates 100% offline, meaning we do not run servers and cannot access your logs. If you uninstall the app, your local database is permanently deleted.

Can I back up my progress or transfer it?

Yes! You can export all your practice logs as a JSON file for local backup. You can also generate a beautifully formatted PDF report of your spiritual progress.

Is the app completely free and ad-free?

Yes. Digital Mala is created as a pure spiritual tool. It features zero ads, zero banner popups, and zero hidden tracking software. It is 100% free to download and use.

How do the haptic feedback features work?

The app uses your mobile device's built-in haptic engine to create a subtle vibration pulse when you transition to the next bead. This allows you to count Japa without constantly looking at the screen.

Can I add custom mantras and set goals?

Absolutely. You can write custom mantras, select traditional counter limits (like 27, 54, 108, or 1008 beads), and track your statistics independently for each mantra.

Digital Mala is built with a strict privacy-first architecture. The application operates entirely offline on your mobile device:

No Accounts: You are not required to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details (such as your name or email) to use the app.
Local Database: All your chanting logs, custom mantras, daily streaks, heatmaps, and progress metrics are stored strictly on your device’s local secure storage.
No Cloud Servers: We do not operate databases or backend cloud servers. Your data never leaves your phone.
No Trackers or Ads: The app contains zero analytics trackers, third-party software development kits (SDKs), or advertisements. Your chanting behavior is never monitored.

3. Device Permissions

To deliver a premium, tactile experience, the app requests the following optional permissions:

Vibration / Haptic Engine: Used to provide simulated bead haptic pulses during Japa chanting, letting you count rounds mindfully without looking at the screen.
Storage / Media: Only used if you explicitly choose to export your Sadhana logs as a JSON backup or generate a PDF report of your progress.

4. Data Control and Deletion

Because your data is stored entirely on your device, you have absolute control over it. You can permanently delete all your data at any time by clearing the app’s cache/data in your device settings or by uninstalling the application. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered by us, as we do not keep backups.

5. Children's Privacy

Our application does not collect any personal information and is safe for individuals of all ages. We do not target or knowingly collect data from children.
